Project 2: The association between baseline neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio with long-term cardiovascular and cerebrovascular outcomes
• Summary: Neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio is a composite inflammatory marker. Elevated NLR has been shown to have both diagnostic and prognostic value in predicting various clinical events (AMI; stroke), as well as outcomes following these events in the long-term (death; disability). This study aims to further examine these relationships by comparing baseline NLR values with such long-term outcomes in otherwise healthy subjects over a five-year follow-up.
What can you learn from being a mentee:
Project 1: learning the basic skills required to perform a systematic review; 2) high chance of publication
Project 2: learning analytical skills required to perform database studies (multivariate regression; ROC analysis etc.), high chance of publication
Level of commitment from mentee: flexible
