Year 3 Public Health

Project title: WeCareBill 病不孤單基金會

WeCareBill Foundation’s mission is to enhance price transparency for private hospital and specialist services. There is currently a lack of publicity accessible information allowing patients to assess the amount of out-of-pocket costs that will be incurred from their healthcare visits and treatments, including the total price for care, and discounted prices set by negotiations with the insurer for insured patients, nor is there sufficient information allowing for price comparison. WeCareBill aims at filling the gap of price transparency in the medical healthcare domain. We collected survey cost information based on 1)open data, 2) patient surveys and 3) mystery calls to specialist clinics. Through our chat-bot and database search engine, patients can learn about the costs of surgeries and doctors before they visit specialist clinics. We apply data science and machine learning technology to expand patients’ choices, which can alleviate the burden on public hospitals as well.
